What would you consider the moments or routines that make you love gymnastics? (And don't say "everything". I want specific, people.)

Everything?
Just kidding Brieferfer.
Well to begin with I was a pretty casual fan - I bookmarked the USAG site and tried to tape competitions when they came on TV but only had like 2 or 3 tapes, it was just a closet hobby of mine that no one but my family (whom I would scream and throw tantrums at if they dared to take away the TV or bother me or hinder my ability to record while Gym was on) and close friends were aware of. I do remember when I moved to TN it was during 01 nationals I was 16 - almost 17 - and being really upset that the cable wasn' t going to be ready and throwing a fit and making my mother drive me to my aunts house across town who had no cable to watch her NBC with fuzzy reception during a thunderstorm. Was I really 16 during 01 nationals? Damn. I'm old. And I can't believe it was that long ago.
Anyway....I started following pretty religiously during/after the Sydney Olympics. Though in retrospect I'm not sure why since that was a pretty crappy olympics. I remember being pretty caught up in all the drama and I really liked Elise Ray and Raducan and all the fluffs (where were they in Athens?)- and living in Waukesha (aka Hammville) right afterwards, and since I had just moved across the country I didn't have much of a life at the time, which also probably helped (as it does now).
I remember the 96 Olympics (I was 11 - GAH - how old were you guys? Wait. Don't tell me) and me and my friends playing Olympics in my living room, using pieces of furniture as various apparatus' - particularly a bad fall involving a vault made out of couch cushions and the recliner chair - but who hasn't done that? I liked Shannon Miller and DomiDawes, and whatever it is about DomiMoc that still annoys me now annoyed me then.
I really liked Tasha Schwikert, I remember watching 01 worlds over and over - can you imagine? I was so ill-informed of what gym really could be. Getting up at 2am to watch some weird Canadian satellite sports channel's version of 01 europeans which was a crappy competition but I'd give anything for that tape now. Grrr. Stupid moving all the time.
Rooting for Tasha early in the quad and later Hollie, Kupets, and Terin were also part of it, it took me a while to warm up to Carly. I had barely heard of Carly before 03 and wasn't impressed with what I knew (I never saw that ATC comp or TJ Maxx thing she was in on TV) until I saw her at 03 ScamCup - I had never seen a standing arabian before (I somehow missed Lobaz's awesome one in Sydney) and I remember rewinding and watching that and her dismount over and over. And literally jumping up and down when Terin got picked for the OTeam - thats one of my biggest all time moments. And when my mom (and several friends) called me at my babysitting job to give me live AA updates during Athens and to tell me that Carly won.
That was all before I was aware of the online community. Finding my fellow online gymfreaks was probably the biggest gym-obsession-enhancer I ever got, which was post-Athens - I've been hooked ever since. I even remember the first montage I ever saw and my first posts at GGMB (a long-winded rant against McCool being on the Oteam like five months after Athens, I can't imagine how dumb I must have looked).
Wow verb tense not be goodest my friends yeah?
This post started with only like two paragraphs but I keep editing it because I think of more stuff. I heart gym.

I remember the 96 Olympics (I was 11 - GAH - how old were you guys? Wait. Don't tell me) I was 4. ;D Anyway. I got hooked at the 2004 Olympics, so haven't really been a fan for long. I turned the TV on, and it said "AA Finals on in 15mins..." but I forgot and missed loads of it. All I remember was Carly's Floor routine, and how I thought her surname was cool... So I googled her name and found her official site and downloaded all of her videos...I loved 2004 US Nationals for ages for some reason...then there was a link on there to CPO, and that really enhanced my gym obsession. So I was 12 or so when I started liking it, and it was Carly who got me into it

i have done it my whole life. I never used to follow it as much as i do now. I mostly just watched in on tv and read books but never on the internet until like 2004. Then i started to follow more meets and go to the girls offical sites. I like it better b/c i know more about the girls and their routines, and i know who may be the up and coming stars and stuff.

Yeah I'm the same ^^^
The internet totally feeds my addiction, all of a sudden I can see old meets and other routines and know stuff about the gymnasts that I never would have normally.

^ i know, I love watching video's of when they were younger and seeing how much they have improved, I most likely would like some of the gymnast I do now if I wouldn't have watch video's of them because they aren't the big names that NBC only shows and all the juniors I would be clueless
